Lift the U.S. FDA Ban on Donating Blood by Gay & Bisexual Men

The U.S. FDA needs to change their policy that men who have had sexual relations with other men will be deferred indefinitely from donating plasma, organs, and blood.
The FDA enforced this policy in 1977, at the height of the AIDS epidemic. Nearly 40 years later, this policy is still in place. These policies are outdated and are not supported by modern medical science. Deferalls are based on prejudice, generalizations and a misunderstanding about HIV/AIDs. There is a constant need for blood, so there is no need to prohibit donations by discriminating against an entire population.
