This petition asks the government to create a central IT department, that will oversee and coordinate ALL IT projects within the government. The leader of this department should have a Cabinet level position.
As technology now drives all aspects of our government as well as our economy, it only makes sense to put technology at the heart of our government.
It is the hope, that with technically minded and technology aware citizens executing governmental IT projects - the government will be able to severely lessen, if not eliminate, extreme waste on technology implementations. One need only look at the latest example and see that change is needed.
