Whereas hammers and other blunt objects take the lives of more people than assault rifles every year, it is time to require the registration of all hammers, axes, sledge hammers, and any other heavy blunt object currently in the possession of US citizens.
Further, all future sales of hammers and other blunt objects should be limited to qualified carpenters who successfully complete a safety course, pass an FBI background check, and can demonstrate a legitimate need for possession of said items; whereupon said items would be registered with the federal government.
We petition you to pass said regulations by executive order if adequate support cannot be garnered in congress.
