Limit the Amount of Media Content When Covering Mass Tragedies.

Created by K.M. on December 20, 2012

This petition would create a law limiting the amount and type of content that can be released on through the media following a tragedy causing the death of 5 or more people or injuring 10 or more. I propose that the name of the perpetrator, the type of weapon used, and the motives be limited or banned from appearing on national media sources including, but not limited to, public news stations, cable news networks, radio stations, internet news websites, and newspapers or magazines. This would prevent other possible copycats from obtaining information allowing them to recreate the tragedy.
