Limit the amount of time non-violent sex offenders must register on state registries.

Created by J.J. on December 17, 2013

We would like to limit the length of registration for non violent, non recurring sex offenders to no less than one year, and no more than 5 times the length of incarceration. As stated in the Adam Walsh act, punishment for sex offenses may last beyond the period of incarceration and probation. There is currently no limit to this statute on a federal level. Many low tier offenders are combined with violent felons on the handling of these cases and are not receiving a fair punishment for the crime committed.
