limit the benefits to politician to those that the general public are entitled, including pensions and health care.

Politicians, voted into public office by registered voters, should not be able to vote themselves benefits that exceed those of the general public. They should be required to pay into Social Security as the general public does, without receiving a lifetime pension as they currently do. They should also receive health care benefits that do not exceed those available to the general public. All avenues through which politicians can engage in activities that create conflicts of interests should be removed and made punishable by law.
