Limit candidates for office to accept campaign donations only from registered voters in their districts

Created by S.C. on September 24, 2011

Candidates for office (congress, president, etc.) should be able to accept campaign donations only from registered voters within their district or state. As Scott Brown famously stated in the MA Senate debate ... "it's the People's seat." It was a great sound bite except his campaign received significant funds from outside of MA.

This petition would prohibit all candidates from accepting campaign contributions from individuals outside their district/state and from all organizations (corps, unions, ACLU, NRA, etc.). It treats all groups equally.

This petition does not affect or conflict with "Citizens United" in any way, it only affects the individual candidate seeking public office. It is a restriction on their behavior just as many other jobs have restrictions on behavior.
