Health care spending is out of control due to lack of regulation over medical insurance copayments and lack of negotiation for drug prices which results in Americans paying triple the drug prices of what Canadians pay.
Due to a lack of competition copayments for Medicare and ACA health plans are not affordable. Two years ago my specialist copay was $30 the next year it was $40 and now $45 for 2016. This is an increase of 25% in only two years. High copayments are proven to discourage care. For this reason there needs to be limits to keep them consistent with inflation (around 3% per year).
Ask congress to make new legislation to limit copayments and mandate negociation for drug prices.
