Due to the long campaigning season, the people of the United States are tired of politics and have lost sight of the issues by focusing on spin. The unity of our nation and civility of our people have been tarnished. Incumbent politicians neglect their duties in order to compete with challengers. Vast resources are expended on advertisements and speaking engagements. None of these things have improved our country or our elections.
We ask that the President promote a legal limit on the duration of political campaigns. Any politician campaigning before the allotted time (excluding circulating petitions to get on the ballot) would be disqualified; any PACs or SuperPACs producing candidate-focused ads would be disbanded, with their funds forfeited and used to help pay off the debt.
