Elected officials pay should not exceed more than 35% above the median income of those who elected them. U.S. Census Bureau data should be used to determine the median income level. Elected officials in all levels of government from City to Federal often receive pay that is very disproportional to those they are to represent. This creates a great disconnect between the citizen and those who represent them. The people's tax money should not be used to provide a better lifestyle to those elected than the people have for themselves.
