In the last election cycle for the Presidency of the United States, candidates for the major political parties launched their campaigns at least 575 days prior to election day. While a period of time should be allowed for the electorate to determine the best candidate, periods of time over one year exceed practicality. The signers of this petition agree to the abolition of the primary election process, and the potential limitation of campaign spending to a period of time no greater than Two Hundred days. This will allow subsequent elections to be determined primarily by official party platforms, and not through outrageously expensive campaigns, where candidates are influenced by donations and not by philosophical ideals.
