Limit election season to no more than 180 days prior to General elections and 60 days prior Mid-term elections

The United States election season is far too long, wastes an enormous amount of time, money and attention from our elected officials. I propose limiting the "election season" to no more than 180 days prior to General Elections and 60 days prior to mid-term elections. This is sufficient time to properly vet candidates. Nominees may not "declare" candidacy and debates may not occur prior to these deadlines. The American public is tired of the never-ending "election season". We need our elected officials to govern.
