Limit Federal Income Tax deductions for children.

Created by G.T. on January 26, 2014

Federal Income Tax provisions are put in place to encourage certain behaviours. Exemptions for children were put in place to reduce the income tax burden for families, so that more funds would be available to support the needs of children. However, since it would be in the best interest of our country and the world in general to reduce the number of children per family, I would suggest that this policy be adjusted.

I propose 150% of a base amount for the deduction for the first child; 100% for the second child; and 50% for the third child. After that, the exemption should be eliminated. This will suggest that our country continues to support the family with children; but not in excess. Tax dollars should not support limitless family size for a number of reasons.
