Mr.Obama admits that our immigration system is broken and was not designed for the 21st century.
As per USCIS website – H1B : This visa category applies to people who wish to perform services in a specialty occupation, services of exceptional merit and ability.
However, over the years the visa is exhausted by the software companies to move their employees to USA who are average qualified (or may not even have a degree) and may not contribute to Research and Development.
There are students in USA who do exceptionally well in academics and are contributing to research but have to enter a lottery for H1B visa and have a computer decide their fate.
There is a need to increase the H1B quota, limit the quota for big software companies and tighten the whole process.
