The Tech. industry argues that there are not enough skilled workers to staff skilled positions within their companies. However, at least from the perspective of some of us who work in IT and other Business Services, H1B visa workers are often brought in for the sole reason that they're cheaper to pay for and are usually here on a temporary basis. There are plenty of qualified Americans out of work that can do these jobs yet corporations don't want to pay them their worth.
