Most American families cannot afford to take two domestic family vacations per year. While the military faces significant cuts, government employees face furloughs, salary and hiring freezes, American families have to nickel and dime their vacation budgets, the First Family's continuous family vacations cost the tax payers hundreds of millions dollars in terms of Air Force One and Secret Service operations, and other infrastructure expenses. Indeed the First Family has to pay for its ticket and lodging cost (mostly), nevertheless, the true cost to the tax payer is utterly unacceptable for a nation in austerity. The First Family should tighten its own belt before mandating the tightening of belts on others.
