Limit or eliminate the influence of lobbying and campaign donations on legislative decisions in America

Created by R.B. on November 21, 2011

In a country founded on the principles of Democracy, the decisions made in our house of legislation should be made with the interest of the nation at heart. Instead, the current system is in favor of the individuals and corporations with the deepest pockets; by lobbying members of Congress to vote in favor of their preferred legislation, those who have the most money can influence major decisions that affect the entire nation.
I propose that we make all donations to elected officials a matter of public knowledge. In addition, it is necessary to limit these donations, and increase the current insufficient regulations. This is the first step in moving our country away from a system where decisions are made with dollars, and towards one where they are made in the interest of the public.
