Airlines have reduced seat pitch to the point that many people do not have sufficient room for their legs between seats. Reclining seats exacerbate this issue and create a serious health hazard and discomfort for many fliers who find themselves pinned between seats. Given these reductions in seat pitch, the vestige of reclining airline seats makes little sense. The FAA should evaluate either eliminating reclining seats in most economy and economy plus sections, or require airlines to guarantee a healthy and safe seat pitch when the seat in front is reclined.
