Current political campaign period is too long and too expensive. It discourages good candidates, is too expensive, gives power to lobbyists with deep pockets, and creates voter apathy. A shorter election cycle would be more attractive to good candidates, would cost less, would reduce the influence of special interests and would generate more interest and participation of the average citizen.
