While Home Owner Associations have the ability and power to be productive and desired many have overstepped their boundaries. While useful for maintaining property and community areas, that shall be the full extent of their power. Bylaws that dictate where a resident can work shall not be dictated by board members. Home Owner Associations have been autocratically amending bylaws that require residents to sell personal property that was originally allowed by the bylaws. These micro-governments are ungovernened and wielding a tremendous amount of legal authority. Many people live with these coorporations because there are no other options. In many areas, every subdivision is ruled by a HOA, limiting the freedoms and privlages a citizen actually has.
