Recently an Idaho family filed a frivolous lawsuit against the U.S. Forest Service complaining that a large dead tree fell and injured their young son during a camping trip. They claim that the U.S. Forest Service has the duty to inspect and make the woods "safe" for visitors, i.e. they want nature to be turned into a foam-rubber coated theme-park where Ranger Rick is constantly watching out for them. Idiocy, rather than common sense is the byproduct of ever-expanding tort liability and leads to endless numbers of wasteful lawsuits. What's next- declawing Mountain Lions? Clear-cutting the forest lest a tree injure someone? Sign my petition to limit the ability of people to sue the Forest Service for the inherent dangers of the wilderness.
