Limit presidential campaigns to 12 months, and all other national campaigns to 6 months.

Created by G.H. on March 17, 2016

The election process in this country is entirely too cumbersome. Presidential campaigns that run for two or more years serve only to distract hopefuls who already hold elected office from their current jobs. These campaigns cost too much money, and they exhaust voters to the point of apathy. Limiting presidential campaigns to 12 months will allow sufficient time before the earliest primaries without allowing time for the process to become so much like a circus.

All other national campaigns not subject to the primary process can reasonably occur in less than 6 months. This will keep campaign spending down while not distracting elected officials from the job of governing.

Instituting a limited campaign season will bring us more in line with the policies of other developed countries.
