Currently, the President of the United States can be elected to a maximum of two 4-year terms. However, members of the House of Representatives serve for 2 years once elected, but have an unlimited number of times they are allowed to run for re-election. Similar rules are also for the Senate, serving for 6 years once elected, and also have an unlimited number of terms that they are allowed to run for again.
Limit the Senate and Congress to the same term restrictions as the President of the United States is governed under. The historian, Mercy Otis Warren, warned that "there is no provision for a rotation, nor anything to prevent the perpetuity of office in the same hands for life; which by a little well timed bribery, will probably be done."
