Limit tyranny of the majority & protect the rights of citizens in less-populated states - preserve the electoral college

Created by D.H. on September 30, 2011

The US was established as a Republic to address some of the shortfalls of a pure democracy: mainly that the majority will vote to oppress the minority if given the chance. Though smaller states have fewer electoral college votes, and therefore less power in electing the president than more populous states, most of them still carry some weight by being able to pool their electors.
