Millions of Americans are employed for the operation of commercial vehicles and while switching to fully autonomous systems may provide an increase in safety, it will result in the unintended consequence of placing many millions of Americans out of work. This surge of unemployed people will prove to be devastating to our economy and with no regulations or solutions for this problem existing or in planning, it is an inevitable outcome. The United States government must create regulations governing the extent to which a company can employ autonomous commercial vehicles in order to preserve the jobs of millions of hard working Americans.
