The coming years and decades will doubtlessly see more drones in the skies. As with all technological things, these drones will become cheaper, and even more prevalent. They will be made using less expensive parts, and, undoubtedly fail. My concern is that these failures will result in damage to life and/or property of people below. (Third parties.)
We request that the president direct the FAA to set a mandatory minimum punitive damage of 1% the value of the offending company to be paid to any affected individual/entity in the event of a drone crash.
This should dissuade companies from using inferior drones that they cannot maintain. Ideally, Drone technology should only be used by entities which require and can maintain it (Law enforcement, medical, research, NOT-FOR-PROFIT ENTITIES.)
