If the Obama administration wants to limit the rights of gun owners, it should also look towards a more responsible media that does not work towards sensationalizing shooters to outdo each other. The Virginia Tech shooter left evidence that he wanted to outdo Columbine. The Aurora shooter clearly made plans to kill more than any previous shooters. The Obama administration should reasonably recognize the role of the media in perpetuating shootings. The Obama administration made it clear they want action and that is not a bad thing. However, the Obama administration should look at more than just the guns as a root cause and that definitely includes the media. In China, de-emphasizing "stabbers" decreased the epidemic but removing guns did not. Thank you for reading this petition.
