America not only needs jobs, she needs the right kinds of jobs. Free Trade Agreements may increase trade (apparently, mostly imports), but increased trade (especially imports) does not necessarily lead to more jobs or the right kinds of jobs. In fact, Free Trade as conducted by global corporations has spurred the export of a great many of well-paid American jobs as nations compete in reducing their middle classes to subsistence income levels to stem the flow of jobs. Given the stagnation of real income levels, Americans resorted to borrowing to maintain their standard of living. The result has been a transfer of wealth from 99% of Americans to the 1%. Free Trade benefits the 1%; a jobs bill, the 99%. If the 1% wants its Free Trade Agreements, it will support a jobs bill, Link them.
