Lobby congress to add a section to the 1040 where we can designate our preferences of where our tax money should go.

Created by A.S. on November 12, 2012

I would like to designate a general preference of where my tax money should go as part of my 1040 filing.

As an example, there would be a 4 choice section on the 1040 where I can choose from one of the following selections: defense, education, infrastructure, and health and human services.

Choosing one of these would provide budget makers the with an up to date instruction for how taxpayers want their tax money budgeted.

This is not a binding choice - meaning that the budget makers have discretion to allocate funds as is necessary. However, the prior year's actual budgetary choices should also be listed on the tax return contrasted with the aggregate choices from the prior year's preferential selections.
