WHEREAS It has become standard practice for Congress to attach multiple unrelated amendments to bills in order to HIDE:
a) Pork funding
b) Legitimate funding for programs unrelated to the Bill Title
c) Idealogical agendas
d) Civil Liberties restrictions
e) Clandestine negotiated deals
f) Onerous regulatory provisions
WHEREAS It puts the President in a position to veto otherwise worthy bills, or sign bills with corrupting amendments
WHEREAS such amendments often contribute significantly to budget deficits
WHEREAS such amendments are inimical to transparent communication with the electorate
RESOLVED -- That this and all future Presidents be granted the "Line Item veto" power and responsibility to ferret out and veto specific unworthy Bill clauses unrelated to the Bill Title.
