Even when safeguards may be put in place to help prevent national tragedies, many members of Congress advocate only for the American people to pray, rather than making any effort to enact legal changes that might deter future tragedies.
Some media outlets note that such members of Congress often receive monies from lobbying groups whose interests may not be served by such safeguards, and the wishing of prayers "without works" is mere deflecting by these officials to protect said lobby interests.
To prevent the appearance of such improprieties, we ask that no congressperson receive monetary contributions from any lobbying organization but rather that such contributions may only be made in the form of prayers, wishes, and other sentiments identical in value and effect.
