Look at corporations that use DRM (Digital Rights Management) to keep users always connected to their service.

Companyes like EA (Electronic Arts) force consumers to buy a product that requires online only connectivity to enjoy the item they purchased. This also locks production companys who use EA to market there game and help promote/distribute there product.

The problem with this is these distribution companys lock the product in on there own servers, making it if the company has gone out of business the servers will go down and then the game will be lost. The game will no longer work for consumers, and the game will never be able to be held for historical value and reference. Games from the original NES (Nintendo) are still played this day and displayed and viewed in technology museums. This will kill long term innovation due to these limits. This will hurt the economic growth of these corps.
