Hospitals and health care facilities use a lot of controlled medications and other pharmacy products. Due to the tight government regulations, any unused medications which are not even opened (kept in its original seal) are asked to be destroyed. This is a three fold loss. First loss is for the pharmacy that has to pay its employees for making this drug only to go waste and destroyed. Second loss is using the federal dollars to pay for these drugs and throw them away later. It's paid for and ended up getting destroyed. Third loss is the loss of those resources that were used to make that drug.
The government can do a study just to identify how much medications are being wasted and destroyed in any health care facility in our country. This can help save our health care system.
