70 out of 109 laws have been passed to reduce gun violence since the Newtown shootings, but in 2014 there have been 116 mass shootings which have taken lives and affected many others including the families of the victims. It is sad that there has been more shootings this year than there has been gun laws proposed and passed, which should represent the failure of recent gun control legislation. This failure not only presents a danger to the citizens of the United States, but even presents a danger to police officers who are armed and sworn to protect us as seen in Las Vegas just yesterday. I am confident that if good Samaritans could carry openly we would see a drastic decrease in mass shootings as well as shooting victims.
