It is already legal for a person 18 years or older to own a handgun. However, The purchase of handguns or handgun ammunition by persons under 21 (from a licensed gun dealer) is illegal.
The logic in this law is simply lacking. Why can a lawful possessor of a handgun not buy ammunition when he or she is under 21? Is there any point in owning a pistol if a person may not buy ammunition for said arm?
Why can a person under 21 buy and own sniper rifles and assault weapons, but can't buy a shotgun with a "pistol grip" because it's considered a "hand gun?"
Young adults under 21 pay taxes just like everyone over 21. Why should legal ( tax paying) adults be denied full second amendment privileges? Is this not discrimination?
