If I can legally join the Military at the age of 18 and be sent to fight for my country, then I should legally be able to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages.
I am also old enough to be considered responsible enough to elect my governments leaders but I am not to be considered responsible enough to make decisions about the quantity and limits of my drinking of alcoholic beverages.
