The amount of signatures needed for a petition to be viewed by the Obama Administration was raised from an original 25,000 signatures to 100,000, all because the Star Wars fandom decided it'd be fun to joke about building a Death Star. I find this absolutely ridiculous, as some Americans are actually mature enough not to create a petition unless we have a good reason for it.
What I propose is that instead of keeping a ridiculously high count for how many signatures needed for the petition to be reviewed by the OA, we lower it to somewhere between 25-65K and instead monitor the petitions more closely. This won't erase politics-themed petitions of any particular party, only ones irrelevant to politics in general, such as fandom jokes. This gives relevant petitions a chance at being viewed.
