A congressman receives an average salary of 174,000 a year for less than half a year of work. This year (2013) congress will work for 126 days and get paid 174,000. This is not fair to the Americans that pay the taxes to fund their salaries. I want to see results and congress will not care unless the legislation affects them as well. The only way to do this is to make a congressman closer to an average citizen. I think an excellent way to make congress feel like a everyday American is to lower their pay to minimum wage on an hourly basis. Congress/Senate should strive to help America succeed and stop being an overpaid, underutilized position.
