Lower the cost of starting and maintaining a tax exempt non-profit organization. Currently, it can cost upwards of $2500

Created by S.W. on November 13, 2012

The federal and state governments have made it nearly impossible for community oriented patriots of the USA to start a charity organization. To become a tax exempt, 501c3 organization, one must file with the several government departments and the office of the Secretary of State. With the complex tax code and the numerous steps it takes to be granted this status, one must go to the assistance of a lawyer to ensure the complete compliance to the current tax code. By the end of the day, a start up non-profit must have approximately $3,000 of capitol before they are able to fundraise with the 501c3 title. The whole process is one of the chicken and the egg. Which comes first, the 501c3 title needed in order to fundraise, or a fundraiser in order to raise enough for the expensive title?
