Currently, when an American turns 18 they are afforded every responsibilty, right, and expectation that American Adults have. You are expected work and pay taxes. You are able to join the military. You are able to rack up thousands of dollars in debt going to college and sometimes having credit cards. However, the only right you are not given is the right to consume alcohol. This violates the rights of citizens 18-20, and essentially makes them second class citizens. They are excluded from taking part in many events and feeling like a full part of society. The drinking age of 21 is the highest of any western civilized nation and is completely dranconian.
