Lower the drinking age to 18!

Created by L.G. on February 13, 2015

The drinking age should be 18 for many reasons:

- Prior to the passage of National Minimum Wage drinking act of 1984 fatalities within the 18-20 year old drinking had already begun decreasing, unlike what some claim.

- In 2002, for example, twice as many 21 year-olds died in alcohol-related auto accidents as 18 year-olds. Such a staggering statistic speaks volumes: a policy that claims to be saving thousands of each year may simply be re-distributing deaths.

- If a man is old enough to vote, fight and make his own life decisions in this country why can he not drink?

- Not every 18-year old who drinks is going to operate a motor vehicle afterwards.

- Alcohol, similarly to tobacco is a heavily taxed good in some states and may generate necessary and proper revenue.
