Other countries already have a lower drinking age set as their public standard. Finland's students are amongst the highest scoring in the world in all three of the major subjects; reading, math, and sciences. The national drinking age in Finland is also set at the age of 18. Other countries’ students such as South Korea, Canada, New Zealand, and Japan (the highest scoring countries in the world) all far surpass students in the US and have a lower drinking age. Also, men of the age 18 are allowed to fight and protect our country overseas. If they are mature enough to be entrusted with the safety, and therefore, the future of our country, they should be able to drink alcohol with their families. For these reasons, the legal drinking age should be lowered within the United States.
