Lower the federal drinking age for all citizens to the age of 19. And lower the age to 18 for service men and women.

Created by T.L. on March 25, 2015

I as well as many of my fellow Americans feel that the drinking age is much higher than it should be. The federal government forced states to raise the drinking age from 18 and 19, in the late 70's and early 80's, by threatening to cut the state highway budget by 10% if the state drinking age was not raised to 21. The means that this was done was ruled illegal through a law passed in 2012 which says that the federal gov't cannot use funding as a means of forcing the placement of laws on a state level. I feel the drinking age should be lowered as it will reduce many alcohol charges on students in colleges across America. It will also decrease bingedrinking, as well as pre gaming to avoid getting caught in public with containers of alcohol. Also service members should be able to drink at 18
