Lower the federal drinking age to anywhere between the ages of 18 and 20

Only seven countries worldwide, including the United States have a drinking age of 21. Only six countries worldwide have a drinking age set at 19 or 20. The majority of countries have a drinking age of 18 in place. The current US law is archaic and unfair to legal age adults who can vote, purchase and consume tobacco, and marry. The law is intended to lower highway accidents, and the rate of fatal car accidents has gone down since its inception in the eighties. However, this is largely due to safer vehicles and speeding laws, not the control of "underage drinking." Lower the age for consumption as well as pouring so that adults may purchase, consume, and pour alcohol at a lower age, while still remaining at or above the predetermined legal adult age limit of 18.
