Lower the interest rate for federally consolidated student loans to under 3 percent.

Created by K.M. on December 27, 2012

The federal government does not allow for privatization of consolidation of student loans. Rather, the government forces student loans from more than one source to be consolidated through the government's loan assistance program. However, the interest rate for these loans is astronomical. The cost of obtaining a college or graduate education is as much as a mortgage, yet mortgage rates are much lower. Student loan rates should be a lower, competitive rate, giving young adults the ability to pay off their student loans while helping to grow the economy through purchases of every day goods and necessities, including housing.
