Lower the legal age for the consumption of beer and wine from 21 years old to 18 years old

Created by D.K. on November 12, 2012

The United States currently has the highest drinking age of any country on Earth. This drinking age of twenty-one is the same for a beverages ranging from 0.6% to 100% alcohol by volume. To say that beer has the same destructive power to a human as straight vodka is simply untrue. If an eighteen year old wants to have a beer in a restaurant, they should have that right. College students obviously drink, the law does nothing except make teenagers obsess over the hard to get substance and drink more when they can get it. An American between the ages of 18 and 20 can die for his or her nation in the middle east, but cannot drink a beer in his hometown. The age of drinking alcoholic beverages below 20% abv should be lowered to eighteen years old, a much more reasonable number.
