The legal age is currently eighteen; it should be lowered to sixteen because many teens are advanced in education and maturity levels. Sixteen year olds are at an age where they should be able to make their own life decisions. Many sixteen year olds are mature and smart enough to be of legal age. The sixteen year olds that have a 3.5GPA or higher, show an extreme maturity level, and good knowledge of life situations should be considered of legal age. “All men are created equal…” this should be the same when it comes to being legal by law. Sixteen year olds are the same as eighteen year olds; the only difference is the maturity in most cases, the education, and the age. It is unjust to tell a mature sixteen year old they are not of legal age just because they are too young.
