We petition the administration to lower the alcohol consumption and purchase age to an age similar to that of other countries, neighboring and otherwise. Alcohol as a substance is widely used in other countries by citizens the age of eighteen and above. As many teens 18 and above drink illegally they are forced to do it in a less regulated atmosphere, lowering the MLDA to 18 would prevent teens from attempting to hide their drinking which can lead to serious and fatal incidents by allowing them more access to help, whether travel or medical.
Lowering the MLDA would also serve to boost local business and create jobs as a previously untapped consumer market will become available.
At the very least, certain states should be able to determine their own legal drinking ages.
