The legal drinking age should be lowered to 18. The age of a legal adult is 18, therefore 18 year olds should have all the same rights as all other adults, including purchasing and consuming alcohol. While the legal drinking age is currently governed by the states, it is being forced to be 21 under the consequence of taking away funding for roads (Federal Aid Highway Act.) I am proposing that the drinking age should be either governed by the federal government (and be 18) or the federal government should remove it's clause in the Federal Aid Highway Act that threatens to take away funding for roads if the drinking age is lower than 21. Another option is to change the age of legal adults to 21. Let's give adults the rights they deserve.
