For more than 40 years since the adoption of the 26th amendment, 18 has been the age of majority in the United States. They can help shape our nation's future by voting and many serve in the armed forces. They are allowed to smoke and to drive a motor vehicle (which can be just as harmful as the consumption of alcohol). They make important decisions about their healthcare and personal life. Please lower the drinking age from 21 to 18. If they are allowed to participate in the democratic process, shouldn't they at least be granted this privilege of responsible citizenship?
